Last Meeting of the Semester!

Hey everyone! This is the last meeting of the semester, and if you have not attended our previous meeting or have missed some volunteer events, it is highly advised that you attend this meeting to remain out of bad standing. This meeting is mandatory. There will be an online DAT simulation guided by a Kaplan instructor. T-Shirts are in! They will be handed to all who ordered them. Car decals also should be in, FREE for all active members! Future plans for this semester will be announced, you don't want to miss this last yet very important meeting. Food and drink will be provided!

Volunteer Event At Sulzbacher Center

Hey everyone! Since it's the month of giving, we as the Pre-Dental Society have a fun yet very important event coming up. We have been fortunate enough to have the opportunity to visit the Sulzbacher Center friday evening, where we will be entertaining the children with games, and of course, food. It will be Thanksgiving themed. Therefore, each person going should bring in something in order to gain points for this activity. We need people for desserts and hors d'oeuvres/main courses. IF you will be attending, please email me so that we can coordinate what you should bring :) We will be meeting at UNF in order to arrive together and coordinate carpooling and leaving NO LATER than 5:45.

And don't forget to mention to the cashier that you heard about this from the Pre-Dental Society :)

UNF Pre-Dental Society's First Meeting of the Semester!

This is the Pre-Dental Society's first meeting of the semester! This year, we have a lot planned, and it is crucial to be in attendance for this meeting in order to become familiar with events to come. We will be holding elections for our new officers, and will be having students who have recently taken the DAT, and have had interviews, speak about their experiences, what to expect, and how to prepare. This meeting will launch us into our second official year, and attendance is highly advised to start off in good standing.

Congrats, Pre-Dents, on the second official year for the club!

Hello fellow Pre-Dentals! Hope everyone's summer is going great, for those with summer courses - hope finals went just as you hoped! The club is ready to move into its second official year, and that means elections are drawing near :) We have 5 OPEN POSITIONS: VP, Treasurer, Secretary, PR Manager, and Volunteer Coordinator. These positions are a great way to get involved with the club and also open you to possibly new opportunities and experiences. If you are interested, email me and I will send you a form to fill out.  I need all applications as soon as possible to that I can set up meetings with each of you within two weeks, so let me know soon!

With that said, our next meeting will be taking place towards the end of August/beginning of September. All updates will be posted here and on our blogspot.

Pre-Dental Club Meeting April 19th!!

Join us on April 19th in building 2, room 2216 from 6pm to 8pm for our last meeting of the year! 

 

There will be a DAT discussion and a UNF Pre-Dental Society member who recently took the DAT will be speaking.

Volunteering Opportunity!

There will be a volunteering opportunity at the Hubbard House downtown on April 20th from 6:00-7:30pm.  We will be hanging out with the kids and eating pizza :) Then we will hand out goody bag of toothbrushes/toothpaste etc. and give them a short little spiel on dental hygiene. Easy way to get a few hours of volunteering in on a Wednesday night! Please write me a note on the event on Facebook as soon as you know you can make it so I can add your name to the list. Hello Pre-Dental Club Officer,
My name is Christine Edralin and I recently joined the club during the last meeting on March 10. I am planning to take my DAT end of June to early July this summer and planning to take the Kaplan Test Prep course Classroom On Site. Unfortunately, when I contacted Kaplan's Customer Service yesterday, they informed me that the nearest Classroom On Site for the DAT near Jacksonville is the Kaplan Center in Gainesville, Fl. However, the Customer Service representative, Sri, informed me that if there are atleast 6 people willing to take Kaplan Test Prep course Classroom On Site in Jacksonville that there is a way to import one of the trained and high-scoring instructors to teach the course in Jacksonville, Fl. He said that we would have input regarding the days and time meetings since a set schedule has not been made for our location. I was thinking anytime between April and June since I needed to take the DAT the end of June or early July. Please notify everyone about this proposal as soon as possible since we need atleast 6 students for them to request an instructor to be imported here, and it might take a couple weeks for the proposal to be approved and find an instructor willing to commute to Jacksonville. The cost of the Classroom On Site program is 3 installments of $466.33, but they have a promotion of $100 off the total amount if enrolled by April 4. Additionally, there is also a 10% discount if you say that you are a member of the Pre-Dental Club at UNF. If you have further questions please contact Sri, the Customer Service representative, as he can further explain the proposal to you. Volunteering Opportunity!

Hey everyone! Sorry for this message being so last minute but if anyone is looking for some volunteering hours there is an opportunity with Haven Hospice March 31st - April 9th. We would be volunteering at a booth at the Clay County Fairgrounds in Green Cove Springs. It's a 45 minute drive which I realize is a little far, but if anyone is interested please contact me at unf.predental@gmail.com and we will get a time and carpool set up!

Online registration is REQUIRED. PLEASE RSVP SO I CAN EMAIL THE COORDINATOR WITH THE APPROXIMATE NUMBER OF STUDENTS THAT ARE PLANNING TO ATTEND. IF WE DO NOT REGISTER, WE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ATTEND AND THE DRIVE TO GAINESVILLE WILL BE A WASTE.

We will be meeting on campus on Friday, March 18th at 8:00 am and we will all carpool to Gainesville. We may need 2-3 cars, depending on how many people come.
